In your own idea why we need to know and understand the life and works of Rizal?

For me, it is very important to learn about the life and works of Rizal as he shaped our Philippine History and had a lot of contributions in our literature.
As a pacifist who writes as a way to fight against the Spaniards during pre-colonial times, we have witnessed the life of Filipinos during their reign and we must not forget that as a Filipino our culture and tradions that we carry. His works shows it but in a way that not all people can understand it. That makes him a really good writer because it promotes us to use critical thinking and imagination as we learn from him.
