II. Identify the type of sampling technique used in the situations.
1. To study the efficiency of a telephone company, Judy selects
every 20th subscriber listed in the telephone directory for her
sample.
2. Annette wants to study the annual salaries of professors in a
certain university. She divides the population according to
their academic ranks and then selects a sample within these
ranks.
3. Suppose that a sample of 15 names to be selected from a list
of 180 names. Paul assigns a number to each of the 180
names and writes these numbers on slips of paper, puts them
in a box and mixes them thoroughly. Then he draws 15 Slips
one after the other.
4. A researcher wants to know the opinions of the employees of
a certain company regarding the proposed new regulation of
the company. From the list of the names of 300 employees
give in alphabetical order, he takes each 10th name on the list
starting with one of the first 10 names on the list.
5. A government researcher wanted to know what percent of
the work force in Cebu City are residents outside the city. He
made a random sampling of government workers in the four
districts of the city.
