Androecium and gynoecium of a flower mature at different times so that self pollination can be avoided. In the autogamy method of self pollination , pollen grains are transferred to the stigma of the same flower.
The Androecium (male sex part) and Gynoecium (female sex part) of same flower matures at different time to prevent self fertilisation, in order to prevent homogamity of recessive genes so they do not express in the progeny.
