Combustion of propane in presence of oxygen takes place as follows -
C3H8 + 5O2 --> 3CO2 + 4H2O
Here, 5 mol of O2 are required to burn 1 mol of C3H8.
Avogadro's law states that equal volumes of all gases, at the same temperature and pressure, have the same number of molecules.
Hence, 5 L oxygen is required to burn 1 L propane.
