Plant cells are eukaryotes, composed of specialized cells that differ in several basic aspects from the Animal cell. Plant cells usually contain a wide cell wall that acts by holding it upright and preventing it from losing its shape. Plasma, cytoplasm and all the other cell types work together to keep the plant working. Vacuoles, a fluid-filled organelle bound by a membrane, are found inside the cytoplasm that holds water in the plant cell. In some cases, plant cells are not getting enough water or there is a great loss of water in the cell. This results in complete destruction of the plant cell and the origin known as plasmolysis.

Plasmolysis is the process where a cell's contents shrink away from the cell wall when placed in a hypertonic solution. An example is if red blood cells are placed in a strong salt solution
