Old age vision loss is know as Presbyopia.Presbyopia happens naturally in people as they age. The eye is not able to focus light directly on to the retina due to the hardening of the natural lens.
One of the very common visual defect that occurs in the old age is astigmatism. This occurs due to development of different refractive index in different parts of the crystalline lens.
As a result the refractive index changes. This occurs in majority of the old aged people resulting in bifocal power in the eyes.
This can be corrected by surgical means or by spectacle correction. This is done by using cylindrical lens in the eyes.
