Specific Gravity
1. Prepare two dinking glass with water and Pour ½ cup of water to each
drinking glass. Label each dinking glass.
2. Drop ice cube on the other drinking glass and drop block of wood
(pine) on the second drinking glass. You may refer on the table 2 to
see the different density of each material.
a. What happens to the ice cube and block of wood? Does it sink or
float?
b. What determines whether something floats or sinks in water?
c. How can you compare the density of the block of wood and ice
cube?
d. Why does there is a portion of ice and block of wood submerged in
water?
