“No one is above the law”

No one is above the law and every person, no matter how wealthy or influential, is subject to the law in the same way.

The primary meaning of rule of law is that the ruler and the ruled must be subject to law and no one is above the law and hence accountable under the law.

It indicates the superiority of law and the acknowledgement that the law cannot be unreasonable in order to be law.

Legislation and laws must be clear and equitable.

When laws are vague, citizens do not know or understand their responsibilities, and they may end up being prosecuted for a violent act they were oblivious of. All citizens must be able to access justice.
