✎I guess is it because that Gino and Gina didn't use the GEMDAS RULE and maybe they just solve the expression left to right.
and the real solution is:
40-2×[(8×3÷6)+12÷2
40-2 × [ (24÷6)+12÷2]
40-2 × [ (4)+12÷2]
40-2 × [ 4+6]
40-2 × [10]
40-20
=20
