Mahesh is thrice as old as tarun . Two yrs ago his age was four times trun's age . Find their present ages.

Age of tarun be t,

Given, mahesh's age = 3 × tarun's age

=> m = 3t ----1equation

Two years ago,

Mahesh's age = (m - 2)
Tarun's age = (t - 2)

According to the question :

Mahesh's age = 4 × Tarun's age

(m - 2) = 4 × (t - 2)

Putting the value of m from 1equation,

(3t - 2) = 4(t - 2)

3t - 2 = 4t - 8

8 - 2 = 4t - 3t

6 = t

Hence, Present age of tarun= t = 6 years
Present age of mahesh = m = 3t = 18 years
