The Last Supper was also an iconic event where the Mass also reflects the words of Jesus to his disciples. The Bread and the Wine symbolizes that Jesus is in our hearts forever.
This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet: “I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”
