For further knowledge; a sentence consist a subject and a predicate (it tells us what the subject does or is) e.g. "She wanted to talk to my sister", "She" is the subject, "wanted to talk to my sister" is the predicate because it tells us that she have the intention to talk to her sister.
A phrase however, does not contain a subject nor a verb. If it doesn't have a subject or verb, it can't form a predicate, e.g. "In the school" it doesn't give any subject or verb.
A clause, it's sometimes act as a sentence because it has both subject and a predicate. On the other hand, some clauses can't be used on ther own and need to be used with an independent clause to complete their meaning, e.g. "When the saints go marching in" for better understanding you can say it's 'putol' or 'bitin'.
