Summary - The story of a social studies teacher who gives an assignment to his junior high school class to think of an idea to change the world for the better, then put it into action. When one young student creates a plan for "paying forward" favors, he not only affects the life of his struggling single mother, but he sets in motion an unprecedented wave of human kindness which, unbeknownst to him, has blossomed into a profound national phenomenon.
Characters - Eugene Simonet, Arlene McKinney, Trevor McKinney, Chris Chandler, Jerry, Grace, Ricky McKinney, Adam, Sidney Parker, Mr. Thorsen, Bonnie
Setting - The film is based loosely on the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It is set in Las Vegas, and it chronicles 11 to 12-year-old Trevor McKinney's launch of a goodwill movement known as "pay it forward".
Lesson - The pay-it-forward concept tells us that we can make a difference in the lives of others and it glorifies random acts of kindness.
Likes/Dislikes - Likes, In the right context it is wonderful. You meet someone experiencing hard times, and you help them in some way. Money, food, clothes or whatever they need. They ask how they can ever repay you and you say “Pay it forward when you can”. Dislike, However, sometimes it is just silly. that someone (in a drive through) paid for the car behind, who paid for the car behind them, who paid for the car behind them, and so on for a long row of cars. They said how great this was. None of those people were necessarily in need, and paying it forward in this way seems ridiculous.
Recommendation - Do a good deed to a homeless person. There are so many things you can do for a homeless person.
