Answer:
Effects on the human health
1. Deforestation/declines biodiversity-creates the conditions for a range of deadly pathogens—such as Nipah and Lassa viruses, and the parasites that cause malaria and Lyme disease—to spread to people.
2. Pollution-Exposure to high levels of air pollution can cause a variety of adverse health outcomes. It increases the risk of respiratory infections, heart disease and lung cancer.
3. Climate change- increases the risk of illness through increasing temperature, more frequent heavy rains and runoff, and the effects of storms.
4. Coral reef degradation-could increase the threat of coastal disasters
5. Illegal mining- is one of the most perilous occupation in the world in terms of injuries and fatalities, and also due to the long term health effects associated with it. Long term effects include respiratory problems such as pneumoconiosis, asbestosis, and silicosis.
Explanation:
Effects on the community:
1. Deforestation/declines biodiversity-the loss of trees and other vegetation can cause climate change, desertification, soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and a host of problems for indigenous people.
2. Pollution-High levels of air pollution can cause an increased risk of heart attack, wheezing, coughing, and breathing problems, and irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat. Air pollution can also cause worsening of existing heart problems, asthma, and other lung complications.
3. Climate Change- is projected to increase the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, such as heat waves, droughts, and floods
4. Coral reef degradation-Bleached corals are likely to experience reduced growth rates, decreased reproductive capacity, increased susceptibility to diseases and elevated mortality rates.
5. Illegal mining-Illegal mining activities were identified as the cause of environmental problems such as water pollution, deforestation, poor soil fertility and limited access to land for agriculture productivity.
