and accurate. Make necessary adjustments if needed.
___ Decide on the scope of your map or the area you are going to make a map
for. It could be your neighborhood, your school, or your town.
___ Draft or draw your map with a pencil. Determine the direction by putting the
north sign on the upper portion of your paper. Make sure you define the sym-
bols and colors used by putting a legend on the lower part of the paper.
___ Observe and take note of features like hills, river or streams, landmarks like
monuments and street names.
___ Organize your data and plan your map.
___ Measure distances and find the true north using your compass.​
