Answers & Comments
Protects the internal organs — the divison of the axial skeleton is mainly made up of bones that protects the delicate organs. The axial skeleton consists of the skull that protects the brain, vertebral column that protects the spinal cord, thoracic cage that protects the heart and lungs, and the hyoid bone that protects the delicate nerves within the neck.
Enable movement — the presence of the joints, where two bones meets together initiated body movement. Some common movements are the flexion and extension.
Store minerals — the intercellular matrix of the bones stores a large quantities of calcium phosphate. In which the calcium is used for vital metabolic processes.
Supply red and white cell— the two marrow that is located in the medullary cavities of long bones can produce RBCs and WBCs. Red marrow produces and supply red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Yellow marrow on the other hand, functions as the fat storage. The formation of blood cells inside bone is called hematopoiesis.
