Activity 1: What’s on My Globe 1. What can be used to find the location of certain place on the globe? 2. Do lines of latitude extend in an east-west or a north-south direction? pahelp
1.)Absolute location describes the location of a place based on a fixed point on earth. The most common way is to identify the location using coordinates such as latitude and longitude. Lines of longitude and latitude crisscross the earth.
2.)Lines of latitude (parallels) run east-west around the globe and are used to measure distances NORTH and SOUTH of the equator. Since the equator is 0, the latitude of the north pole, 1/4 of the way around the globe going in a northerly direction, would be 90N
