Matter has different properties because their particles have different properties too. This simple activity will help us understand how different are the particles in solids, liquide, and gases.

Materials:
glass
bowl
marbles (or any small round object or small round stone)

Procedure:
1. Place the marbles inside a glass. Draw your observation about the way the marbles are arranged.
2. Swird the glass. Describe the movement of the marbles inside the glass.
3. Place the marble in a bowl. Draw the arrangement of the marbles.
4. Swirl the bowl. Describe the movement of the marbles inside the bowl,
5. Let the marbles roll randomly on the floor.
Draw the arrangements of the marbles. Describe the movement of the marbles.

Guide Questions:
1. In which setup are the marbles definitely arranged? In which setup are the marbles randomly arranged?
2. In which setup are the marbles free to move? In which setup do the marbles have limited movement?
3. Which setup best resembles a solid? How about a liquid? How about gas?​​
