Movie: Rashomon
Director: Akira Kurosawa
"This time, I may finally lose my faith in the human soul".
Needless to say that Kurosawa is a great film director. Rashomon is the film that introduced Japanese film in the arena of international renown.
Speaking about the story the film is based on Ryūnosuke Akutagawa's "In a Grove". The story narrates the murder of a man and some one has raped his wife. But, was there any murder? was the wife raped? who is telling the truth? These are the questions will appear in the mind of the spectators.
The story exhibits that each and every person in the world has their own version of truth, their own version of story. How you'll judge it depends on your philosophical intelligence. The movie has delved into the complex and the darkest area of a human mind and explored it.
Speaking about the camera and direction, just one word 'exquisite'. Kurosawa, perhaps, is the first director who projected the lens directly to the sun. The hide and seek of light and shadow, the heavy downpour, dilapidated buildings everything project the classic nature of the movie.
Though there are some glitches that caught my eyes, e.g. when the third man entered running inside the temple he was seldom wet though there was heavy rain outside. When Tajomaru was taking the husband to the pile where he piled up the swords, cameraman was moving in front of them thus making leaves of the tree shaking, which clearly indicates that there is a third person in front of them. In the sword fight there was seldom any dust on the body of Tajomura despite he fell on the ground several times etc. etc.
Nevertheless, Rashomon is a true masterpiece and was made way ahead of times. No matter how many times one re-watch will always left with questions. At the end, the movie may appear inconclusive as it is not shown what happened with the accused or who was the accused but conclusively ends with the message "I think I can keep my faith in man" .

Answer:
Today I saw a Japanese movie. It was a different experience for me because I used to watch English movies only. I heard about Japanese movies from my classmates that resulted in me watching a Japanese film. I was joyed when I saw the movie, I really don't know Japanese that's why I watched it with subtitles but I still had a good time in theater. These days many people are keen to watch movies that are of different language. I understood it today when I saw that every seat of the theater was occupied. After watching the movie I have developed a keen interest towards Japanese culture. My parents didn't show that much of interest because they were not able to understand the film, hence they had to look the subtitles. I was fascinated after watching the film, the film was based on science - fiction, which is my favorite genre. The plot and the storyline of the movie didn't even bore me for once. When the film ended I made up my mind that I will watch more movies like these.
