Sir/Madam,
I am an avid reader of your esteemed daily. I would like to draw your attention towards the plight of the elderly in big cities.
An elderly couple resides next to our apartment. Last night, we heard a commotion coming from their flat. We broke into their apartment and saw that the 85 year old man has collapsed in the bathroom, and his aged wife is wailing for help. We immediately called the ambulance, and asked her why she could not call us. She said that her son, who stays overseas, had gifted them a smartphone, but they don't know how to use it. Such cases are happening every moment. It is frightening when the elderly are in a crisis and have no one to depend on. The municipalities must open emergency helplines for the aged so that they can seek help whenever needed.
I request you to publish this letter so that it reaches the concerned authority.
