Often women are not considered valuable enough in the workforce. This translates into lack of opportunities to go up and not being duly considered during performance evaluations. Eventually, it even affects the way women ask for salaries and raises.
While men earn 82 per cent of the labour income in India, women earn only 18 per cent of it, according to the World Inequality Report 2022.
Responsibilities and part-time roles are shared unequally. Women look for jobs which are more flexible and not focus much on Pay. Women are paid less than men for the same role.
According to the Global Gender Gap Report 2021, women, on average, were paid 21% (or almost one-fifth) of the income of men. According to the World Inequality Report 2022, men in India earn 82% of the labour income while the share of women's earnings stands at a mere 18%.
