Disagree with that. I live in Las Vegas, there are lots of trees here.
Yes some trees aren’t suited for desert climates but others are suited for them or can tolerate them. There are lots of palm trees here. At my house I have several large pine trees and a huge Chinese Pistachio which provides lots of shade. I also have a large oak tree, an apple tree, an apricot, a lemon and a pomegranate.
There are also desert trees that would do ok without irrigation, like Palo Verde trees, Joshua Trees and others.
