From the age of cavemen, humans have been living as as community, whether it be in large groups of people, or as a family.
Now, how this came to be is yet a very difficult question, having formed over years. Following here are possible reasons why humans live in societies.
The necessity of food, and the call of hunger brought clans together, forming little communities, to hunt for food. Of course, the more people that help in this process, the more food.
The refuge and safety amongst other people. Gradually, this idea increased the size of the communities.
The idea that different people possess different abilities, so each member offers to the community.
Reproduction, and offspring, to pass on to next generations.
The idea of communities is to fend off the hardships of life, because after all, the pain is relieved when shared. Each person in the community knows this, and acts to benefit every one.
