Why does the poem allude to Icarus and Daedalus? What is the story of these figures of Greek mythology and what does this story have to do with the poem?
Bradbury's allusion to the story of Daedalus and Icarus represents the connection to Montag and his dangerous longing for more freedom and knowledge. ... Daedulus warned him not to go too near to the sun, but Icarus went ahead and did so anyway, melting the wax on his wings so that he plunged into the sea and drowned.
All I know the story is about Dadaeleus an inventor that was forced to work for the king and Icarus his son. The king ordered the inventor to create a magical labyrinth to keep the monsters inside and dadaeleus did altough the king was angry for some sorts and decided to lock both Dadaeleus and his son Icarus in the labyrinth they had created, to this the Inventor created wings using wax and birds feathers to escape from the island and they did, they were able to fly yet Icarus to his pride decided to fly higher than his father and each minute feathers from his artificial wings melted due to the sun's heat and he soon fell towards the ocean and drowned him.
The poem is literally the other version of the story, it is to teach ones individual of cruelty and pride
