Music has gone down the drain nowadays because everybody tries to appeal to the short-attention spanned millennials and Gen Zs.
Back then in the 70s and the 80s and even earlier before that, singers sung their hearts out and told a story, and even whether it was true or not, you believed it because you heard the passion in their voices. Nowadays, all music is about, whether it’s rap or not, is just about body parts, one night stands, and having parties all night long.
And of course there’s the millennial “whoop” in music where there is a repeated pattern of two notes in a specific song that comes off as the chorus. I’m starting to see more of this in music nowadays. Also, the volume of most music nowadays is amplified more than the music back then.
The fact that there wasn’t much curse words song in a song back then was because the singers were more focused on telling their story and sharing their music with the world through the style that they wanted to portray in the media, and not caring about what people think (most of the times).
That’s not the case nowadays. Now people just want to definitely appear to the tabloids, all the while having a little more of a good time and they should be having. So in this case, you will hear way more cursing in music. And that’s not gonna change because of the society that we live in, that’s kinda circling the drain as we go along. I don’t mean to sound depressed, but there is some truth to what I’m saying.
explanation: they say 'bad words' because they are saying how they feel
