When the fractions represented by the shaded parts in the figures (i), (ii) and (iii) are added, the reciprocal of the sum of fractions is :

i) = 6/16 since there are 16 parts and 6 shaded

ii) = 2/7 since there are 7 parts and 2 shaded

iii) = 2/4 since 4 parts ans 2 shaded.

to add them they need to be like fraction:

to make them like we need to find lcm

and LCM of 16,7,4 is 112, since 112 is divisible by 16,7 and 4.

we need to multiply the numbers so they are like with quotient of which we get dividing LCM and denominator

112/4 = 28

112/7 = 16

112/16 = 7

2/4*28/28 = 56/112

2/7*16/16 = 32/112

6/16*7/7 = 42/112

56/112 + 32/122 + 42/122 = 130/122

and reciprocal of 130/122 = 122/130
