When species become extinct, biodiversity becomes greater. Yes or No? Why?
ANSWER
The answer is No.
WHY?
Biodiversity means "Biological Diversity". It is defined based on the number of species of plants and animals living in the environment, more species means wider or greater biological diversity.
So if multiple species of such organisms become extinct, of course the diversity of species will decline and most likely become lesser and lesser in the future (if the extinction continues).
RECENTLY EXTINCT ANIMALS
» Spix's Macaw, this is the bird featured in the movie "Rio". This bird is endemic in Brazil. (See picture)
»WesternBlackRhino, one of the rarest rhino prior to its extinction. Once roam in Central Africa.
»ChinesePaddlefish, commonly found in Yangtze river in China. Went extinct last 2019.
