When Diane was in high school, she attended horticulture classes and eagerly
learned how to identify plants and their requirements. She was also very
interested in the soil sciences, pest control, and other things related to plants
In college, Diane continued pursuing her interest in plants, especially in
flowers. She worked as florist after graduation, and applied her knowledge and
creativity for the company she was working in.
As an employee, Diane saw the demand for professional care for indoor
plants, which the shop did not offer. When she was 23, she decided to take a
part time job as a freelance interior plants consultant. It was a new and risky
field, but she was very happy to have discovered it.
Diane serviced her customers during free time and held on to her regular job
to help fund her venture. It was not easy for her to establish a good reputation
at first, but she believed in her skills and the potentials of her business.
She worked hard breeding new plants for interior landscaping, and
these became popular with her customers.
The demands for her services soon required her to work on her business full-
time that she had to resign from her job.
Today, Diane has five employees who assist her with the bulk of the
workload that she gets from big firms. She keeps her clients satisfied by
providing them with hands-on, personalized services.
