Vertebrates of the World
Animals with backbones are called vertebrates. They have
backbones, protective skin covering and lungs for breathing.
Vertebrates are grouped according to their similar and unique
characteristics. They are
classified
as mammals,
fishes,
amphibians,
reptiles
and
birds.
Mammals represent the
most
advanced
group
because they all have fur
or hair and mammary
glands which enable them to feed their young. They are usually born
wholly formed because they are developed inside their mother's womb.
Humans cow, horse, bat and whale belong to this group.
Fishes are known to be cold blooded animals. Some of them
are tilapia, tuna and milkfish.​
