SPRING
• At the vernal equinox or spring (around March), the daylight is roughly 12 hours long throughout the world (same length of day and night) because the Earth is not tilted toward or away from the Sun (almost straight relative to the poles). The days continue to get longer and the solar radiation the Sun emits get more direct in the Northern Hemisphere during spring.

WINTER
• Winter usually begins during winter solstice (one of the two times of the year when the sun is farthest north or south of the equator takes place) this occurs around December in the Northern Hemisphere. Our hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun during winter, so the sun's rays reach us less directly. While days get longer during winter, they are still shorter than in spring and summer, so it's ice-cold.
SUMMER
• The summer solstice (usually around June) is considered the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of summer. The build up of heat caused by more direct solar radiation during the late spring and early summer days in the Northern Hemisphere makes summer our warmest season among seasons.
FALL(AUTUMN)
• After the autumnal equinox (around September) the Northern Hemisphere tilts away from the Sun; sunlight is less direct and lasts less than 12 hours. The hemisphere starts to become frigid as winter approaches.
WHY SEASONS HAPPEN?
Earth spins on its axis of rotation. That's how we get day and night. But Earth's axis isn't straight up and down. In fact it is tilted about 23 1/2 degrees. Due to this tilt, different parts of the world get different amounts of sunlight during the year as it orbits the sun. This is why we have what we call seasons.
Not all countries experience the same seasons, due to their relative position on Earth. Countries are not all located in just one place.
