Hey there is your answer....hope it helps u ☺ A homologous series may be defined as a family of organic compounds having the same functional group and similar chemical properties. The successive members of the series differ by a Ct group and 14 mass units.
The individual members of a homologous series are called homologues and the phenomenon is called homology. All the members of a homologous series can be represented by a general formula. For example, the general formula of the homologous series of alkanes is C,H271+2 where ‘if is any positive integer.
The member of a homologous series show a gradation in physical properties as the molecular mass increases. For exampk, the melting points and boilirg points increase with increasing molecular mass. Other physical properties like solubility in a particular solvent also show a similar gradation

It is the series of compounds having similar structural formulae , same functional group and same chemical properties . The any two adjacent members in the homologous series differ by CH2 unit until their molecular formulae . e.g homologous series of aldehydes H-CHO Methanal CH3-CHO Ethanal CH3-CH2-CHO Propanal and so on
