• Unitary method is a process by which we find the value of a single unit from the value of multiple units and the value of multiple units from the value of a single unit. A tree 24 m high casts a shadow of 15 m. At rhe same time, another tree casts a shadow of 6 m. Find the height of the second tree.

Given:

The tree of height 24m casts a shadow of length 15m.

To find:

The length of the shadow casted by other tree is 6 metres.

Solution:

→As the time is same,so we are assuming that the length of the shadow will be directly proportional to the height of the tree in every cases.

So,

15m shadow casted by = 24 m tree

1 m shadow casted by = 24/15 m tree

6 m shadow casted by = 24×6/15 = 9.6 m

Hence, the height of the tree is 9.6 metres.
