Hazard can be defined as any undesirable or dangerous condition that may lead to loss or injury. During my first year at university I was walking home one night when I noticed a car parked on the road with its lights off. As I walked past the car I heard a loud bang from inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation I found out that it had been hit by another vehicle which then caused the driver to lose control of his car. Luckily I got away unscathed but this incident has always stuck with me.
A hazard is any source of potential damage, harm or adverse health effects on something or someone. Basically, a hazard is the potential for harm or an adverse effect (for example, to people as health effects, to organizations as property or equipment losses, or to the environment).
