It is the reaction in which high reactive element displaces less reactive element from its compound. When zinc is added to copper sulphate solution, then the blue colour of solution disappears. It happens because zinc is more reactive than copper so it displaces copper from copper sulphate solution and forms zinc sulphate solution.
