The poem is clearly telling that one who is in the cage is a BIRD who is just a pet of a human being. She says that she wanted to fly with other birds that are flying free and high. The bird says that she wanted to be free and let us don't keep it in a cage. People who have pets like parrot, the parrots are not happy because they are closed just in a simple and small cage. The birds says that she is not a toy, or she is not a statue made of stone. She has feelings like we have. She says to humans, that this world is not only their's ( humans ) but also of the other creatures.
