For me, lack of trust is a barrier in solving my problems, cause when people don't trust me enough they tend to think that I would do the same mistake twice. Losing people's trust has a lot of impact in resolving problems, so you tend to lack trust of yourself cause you think that you your solution may not be enough to solve the problem. You can prevent commiting mistakes if you think of the possible negative and positive outcome of it, if it turns out that it has a lot of positive effects then you chose the right decision.
