A road almost never connects start and finish of a trip as directly as an airplane can fly. On the other hand, not many people actually live at an airport. You usually have to drive to airport, fly, land, and drive to where you are really going.
When you are trying to figure out how to go, here is how I figure it:
less than 120 miles - drive your car
120 to 600 miles - drive to airport, jump into small plane, fly, maybe take Uber
