Week 4 EIM 9 Activity 1. Identify DIRECTION: Explain briefly the application of the following locking mechanisms, adapters, connectors and coupling below:
1. Locknut- This is may be a bonding locknut or a sealing locknut whose main function is to connect externally threaded conduit or connect to a treadles opening in a box or enclosure. Locknut is used for RMC and IMC, and for EMT connectors.
2. Bushing- This is installed to preotect wire from abrasion and to mechanically secure rigid metal conduits to a box or enclosure.
3.Flexible Nonmetallic Conduit Coupling - This is connector is used to effectively join FNMC to a box or enclosure.
4. Flexible Conduit to Coupling/Connector - Made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), this coupling has a mechanism to lock flexible conduit upon insertion. It is used to join length of FNMC.
5. Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Connector - • This is used to effectively bond conduit to a box or enclosure.
• it also used flexible metal raceway is installed outdoor or in area exposed to continuous moisture.
6. Flexible Nonmetallic Conduit Connector- This is connector is used to effectively join FNMC to a box or enclosure.
7. EMT Reducer- This is utilized when joining EMT conduits of two different sizes.
8. EMT Connector Set Screw Type- • Also known as a box connector, this is used to mechanically secure EMT conduit to a box or enclosure. • This is associated with locknut.
9. EMT Coupling Set Screw Type - This is used when joining length of EMT conduits.
10. Polyvinyl Chloride - high strength thermoplastic material widely used in applications, such as pipes, medical devices, wire and cable insulation.
