Two pipes working together can fill a tank in 35 minutes. If the large pipe alone can fill the tank in 24 minutes less than the time taken by the smaller pipe than find the time taken by each pipe working alone to fill the tank.
1. if the smaller pipe can fill the tank in x minutes alone, how would you represent the number of minutes the larger pipe can fill the tank alone?
2.How would you represent the amount of work that the smaller pipe can fill the tank in 1 minute? How about the amount of work that the larger pipe can fill the tank in 1 minute?
3. If they work together, what equation would represent the amount of work they can finish in 35 minutes?
4. How would you describe the equation formulated in item #3?
