Germination is the process of seeds developing into plants. There are
two types of seed germination. The first type is the Epigeal germination. In
this type of germination, the hypocotyl elongates rapidly and arches
upwards, pulling the cotyledon which moves above the soil; and the
second type of germination is Hypogeal germination. In this type of
germination, the epicotyl elongates and the cotyledon remains below the
soil.
