u may be knowing that turmeric is a natural indicator which remains yellow in acidic medium and brownish red in basic medium.
take hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide and sugar solution in test tubes and add a pinch turmeric into each of them.
on adding turmeric into test tube having HCl the colour will change into yellow as it is an acidic medium
on adding turmeric into test tube having NaCl the colour will change into brownish red as it is a basic medium.
sugar solution is a neutral medium and hence no colour change will be observed.
