Summary: "Our little store rose right up from the sidewalk. It was a plain frame building covered with brick. Running in out of the sun, you met what seemed total obscurity inside. There were almost tangible smells.'
How: I define this essay as descriptive because it's not just clear and concise, but it has images and sensory information about the building.
Summary: Fungus (fungi) is a member of the group of eukaryotic organisms that also includes unicellular microorganisms like yeasts and mold, along with multicellular fungi that are also known as mushrooms. The main feature that differs fungi from plants is chitin in their cell walls. Their traditional habitat includes damp and dusk places, spoiled food, etc. This environment triggers their growth and contributes to their fast spread.
How: I define this essay as biological because biological essay talks about different plants, animals, and other living things in which fungus is considered a living thing.
Summary: I’m using the term ‘Chinese mother’ loosely. Conversely, I know some mothers of Chinese heritage, almost always born in the West, who are not Chinese mothers, by choice or otherwise. I’m also using the term ‘Western parents’ loosely. All the same, even when Western parents think they’re being stríçt, they usually don’t come close to being Chinese mothers. For example, my Western friends who consider themselves strict make their children practice their instruments 30 minutes every day. An hour at most. For a Chinese mother, the first hour is the easy part. It’s hours two and three that get tough.”
How: I considered this essay as expository because expository essay means to explain, illustrate, clarify, or explicate something in a way that it becomes clear for readers in which the difference between Chinese mothers and Western parents we're clearly differentiated in the essay.
