I learned from todays lesson is the stages of infection are:
incubation
prodromal
illness
decline
convalescence
The first part is the incubation stage which includes the time from exposure to an infectious agent until the onset of symptoms at this stage the virus or bacteria replicate.
The next stage is the prodromal. This is happen after incubation period and before the characteristic symptoms of infection occur. At this stage people can transmit infection. This is also a period wherein a person low-grade fever and fatigue.
Third step is illness. At this time a person shows apparent symptoms of an infectious disease. The next step is decline wherein The immune system mounts a successful defense against the pathogens, and the number of infectious particles decreases.
The last step is the convalescence wherein symptoms resolve, and a person can return to their normal functions.
