The side of a square is 6m. If the perimeter of a rectangle is the same as that of this square.
Perimeter of the square = side × 4
= 6 × 4
= 24 m
Area of the square = side²
= 6²
= 36 m²
i) Find the ratio of area of the square to its perimeter
Ratio = 24/36 = 4/6 = 2/3 = 2 : 3 ans
ii) Find the ratio of length of the rectangle to its breadth, if its breadth is 3m.
Breadth = 3 m
Length = ?
Perimeter = Perimeter of square = 24 m
Perimeter = 2(length + breadth)
24 = 2(length + 3)
12 = length + 3
Length = 12 - 3 = 9 cm
Ratio = 12/3 = 4/1 = 4 : 1 ans
