A great variety of initiatives have been implemented to directly combat poverty by creating jobs, providing healthcare, education, nutrition, and assistance to disadvantaged areas and vulnerable people. Although the poverty rate has decreased, a sizable segment of our people remain impoverished. This is due to a number of factors. While several poverty-relief programmes have been launched, they all operate in silos ( are isolated). There is no systematic effort to locate poor people, analyse their needs, address them, and help them rise beyond the poverty level.
