God the Son; Jesus, and God the Father and God the Holy Spirit are One. That means they are 3 individuals who are in such perfect unity that you can say that they are One God, even though they are still 3 individual persons. The decision that God the Son would take on human nature to be our sacrifice for sin, was made by all of them as the Unified One God. Jesus was “in on the idea” all along.

God the Father, is referred to as The Father because of the nature of the relationship that He and the Son have. The closest analogy we have to it is of a wonderful father with a wonderful son.

Note, we have to use limited human terms to have any small concept at all of God. Calling God the Father, “the Father of the Son” is in terms of the type of relationship they have, its not that the Father created the Son - The Son has always existed just as the Father and Spirit have. The “begotten” verse has to do with when the Son was placed into the human baby in Mary’s womb.
