↪A very warm and a pleasant Good Morning to respected principal Ma'am , worthy teachers and my dear friends . Today , I Aaisha , a student of class 9 feels privileged to share this dias with such a knowledgeable audience to share my views about how I celebrated the auspicious eve of Durga Puja .
⭐Durga Puja ; it is one of the most popular festival of Hindus , celebrated in different parts , known with different names but the main gist about it remains the same .It symbolises the victory of 'Good over Evil' . It is called 'Durgotsava' meaning the festival of Durga.
⭐It is believed that this day marked the defeat of the shape shifting buffalo demon 'Mahishasur' and it was on the tenth day that goddess Durga emerged victorious thus marking the end of evil powers of the demon . So it is also called Vijay Dashmi .
⭐ Talking about my personal experience , it is one of my favourite festivals . It falls in the Hindu month of 'Ashvin' i,e in Sept/ Oct . The festival continues for 10 days .
▪ On the first day , which is called "Mahalaya" which is the day of remembering the departed souls along with the Advent of goddess Durga. I went along with my family and we welcomed the deity of Goddess durga in our home . Her worship continued for the next four days .
▪Then the significant "Shashthi" ( sixth day ) was the main attraction that marks festive celebrations , inaugurations , decorative pandals . I went to the various beautifully decorated temples , we prayed for the well being of the family and loved ones .
▪Then for the next three days :-Saptami , Asthami and Navami prayers and recitation continued . I even fasted on the last day . It is believed that fasting brings blessings of goddess on the family members .
▪Then on the tenth day of Dashmi, it came the time for immersing the holy statue . We all accompanied the crowd . It was really a beautiful sight . People were dancing with joy . Finally we immersed the holy statue in the river along with many others ,praying for blessings from goddess Durga.
↪At the end , I would just say that goddess Durga is the epitome of a woman's strength , power and might . it symbolises that truth and goodness always wins whatever the circumstances may be . Another aspect is the patience , strength and power of a woman , which we all need to understand and incorporate . Woman is the motherly power behind all the mighty creations .
