Summarize this story.

Tens of thousands watching the service on jumbo TV screens
outside Westminster Abbey burst into thunderous applause which
was heard inside and swelled so that even Princes William and Har-
ry began to clap. In that moment the people had made irrevoca-
ble their choice of Diana over the royals. They chose her warmth
over their chilly indifference, her breath of fresh air and informality
over their implacable stiffness, her humor over their witlessness,
her soul-stirring need to make a difference over their age-old, bred-
in-the-bone paralyzing fear of change. The English rose among the
thorns of the Royal Family was the Princess of Wales who became
the People's Princess and the Queen of Hearts. Now she is also the
Lady of the Lake, buried in her ancestors' island called the Oval in
a pond surrounded by beautiful flowers on the grounds of Althorp.
Tonnes of rarest blooms, cards, and bouquets offered by the
British subjects: peasants, traders, schoolchildren, foreign visitors,
and people from all walks of life filled the ground of four palaces:
Buckingham, St. James, Kensington, and Sandringham. Prayers,
masses, and letters of condolence from different parts of the world;​
billions of admirers watching the solemn progress of the funeral procession after her final resting place in althorp— these are the greatest tribute to princess diana one said
"Whoever is in distress you can call me i will come running wherever they are if it is my destiny
"When i go home and turn my light off at night i have a good rest because i know i did my best"​
