Solve each of the following problems. 1. To find the distance AB across a river, a distance BC = 354 m is laid off on one side of the river. It is found that B = 112

and C = 15. Find AB. Round to the nearest meters.
2. The diagram shows the relative positions of Earth, Mars, and the Sun on a

particular date. What is the distance between Mars and the Sun on this

date? Round to the nearest million miles.
3. From the rooftop of a building, Nestor observes a tree and a house. The angle of depression of the tree is 40 and

that of the house is 25. If the distance between the tree and the house is 11.25 m, find the distance of Nestor from

the house. Round to the nearest hundredth of a meter.
4. Point A and B are on opposite sides of Yambo Lake. From a third point C, the angle between the lines of sight to A

and B is 46°. If AC is 350 m long and BC is 286 m long, find AB.
5. A weight is supported by cables attached to both ends of a balance beam, as

shown in the figure. What angles are formed between the beam and the cables?​
