Should mobiles be allowed in schools? Last week, I missed the school bus. My mother suggested that I should take an auto to reach on time. She also forced me to take her mobile. My grandmother was upset with mother. She remarked "Did you not travel to school 4 kms away? We did not have even a telephone". But today, mobiles have become a necessity. But, is it necessary for school students to use mobiles in school? I don't think so. Some parents feel that children should have one. "Have you reached school?", "Did you eat your lunch?", "Did you check your bag?" - What a headache! I would feel I have lost my freedom to enjoy school life. What if the schools do permit mobiles? Can the students concentrate on their studies? Is there anyone to check whether it is being used appropriately or misused? Or will teachers collect all the mobiles and lock it in the cupboard, to be used during the recess? An unnecessary waste of time! Is there again anyone to check how the mobile is used? Well, I totally disagree and I strongly feel that mobiles should not be allowed in schools. There are reasons to justify. Firstly, students do not travel far to schools. During emergencies, the school authorities can call up the parents or vice-versa. Parents can check about the child's attendance, progress, behaviour etc. from time to time during the periodical Parent-Teacher meetings. Some schools have set up Apps wherein the parents are updated everyday about the activities and progress of the child. If the students and the parents are responsible to abide by their duties, I don't think mobiles are necessary in schools. They should be totally banned.
